Nothing About Us Without UsThe following are links to organizations and departments in the state which provide services and support to individuals with disabilities. Nebraska
Unicameral- the Official site of the Nebraska State Legislature. Track legislative bills, find your Senator, and contact legislative offices.
Health and Human Services System- the Department is the state agency responsible for the administering the Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security programs in Nebraska. Find information about public meetings, proposed rules and regulations changes, and statistics about health and wellness in Nebraska.
Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired- NCBVI is the official state agency serving people with disabilities who are blind and/or visually impaired. They are also one of NESILC's designated state units. DSUs partner with NESILC to promote independent living and develop the State Plan on Independent Living.
Department of Motor Vehicles- contact the DMV for information about accessible parking license plates and other transportation related concerns.
Vocational Rehabilitation- VR is the state agency responsible for helping individuals with disabilities pursue educational and vocational goals.
The Arc of Nebraska- The ARC represents individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the state.
Nebraska Advocacy Services- the Center for Disability Rights, Law, and Advocacy is the protection and advocacy agency in Nebraska. NAS engages in advocacy efforts and provides legal assistance to those who have been discriminated against because of their disability.
League of Human Dignity- a center for independent living. The League of Human Dignity has offices in Omaha, Lincoln, and Norfolk which provide independent living services and an office in Scottsbluff dedicated to helping people with the Medicaid waiver process.
Center for Independent Living- a center for independent living. The Center for Independent Living of Central Nebraska office is located in Grand Island. The CIL of Central Nebraska offers four cores services including peer mentoring, advocate assistance, independent living skills, and information and referral.
Assistive Technology Partnership- dedicated to helping Nebraskans with disabilities, their families and professionals obtain assistive technology devices and services since 1989. As an Independent Living partner and recipient of Part B dollars, ATP is a stakeholder in the development of the State Plan.
Nebraska 211- is a collaborative group of organizations from across the state working to ensure that individuals have an easy means to search the entire state for health and human service agencies and programs serving their area, and find the help they need.
Assistive Technology for All- is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities find quality used assistive technology.
Mental Health Association of Nebraska-
MHA-NE is a consumer-run
education and advocacy organization bringing service recipients, families,
professionals, advocates, and concerned citizens together to address all
aspects of mental health and mental illness. The Kim Foundation- The Kim Foundation was established to provide support to charitable organizations across the state of Nebraska, with a special emphasis on those organizations that assist individuals with mental health difficulties. We recognize the power teamwork can have in the fight against mental illness.
Medicaid Buy-In for Me- This site
was started with the goal of getting an improved Medicaid Insurance for
Workers with Disabilities program passed in Nebraska. Join David, the
Kolb Foundation, the NESILC, and many others in supporting this legislation.
