State Plan on Independent Living- Every three years NESILC is required to work with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) and NE Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NCBVI) to develop the State Plan on Independent Living (SPIL).  The purpose of the state plan is to describe how the state’s network of independent living programs and services will meet the independent living needs of persons with disabilities in the state.

The Independent Living agencies of Nebraska (NESILC, Vocational Rehabilitation, the Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and the Centers for Independent living) hosted a public meeting on April 2, 2007 to hear comment on the proposed goals and objectives.  The public hearing may have passed, but we still want to hear from you!  Read up on our proposed goals and objectives and about what Independent Living is, then submit your comments or the Consumer Needs Survey to us at nesilc@alltel.net.
